Nurse Practitioner
“I have been with the organization for 27 years and have over 30 years of experience as an APRN. I care for patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, with a particular passion for women's health and pediatrics. My commitment lies in helping people understand their health, educating, and empowering them to enhance their well-being through self-care and prevention. I enjoy getting to know the patients I care for and strive to establish a good relationship with each one. I believe in caring for individuals as "whole beings," considering their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, rather than focusing solely on physical symptoms. Listening to patients is crucial to addressing all their needs comprehensively. The most important aspect of my life is my family. I've been married to my husband Jay for 40 years. We have three wonderful children: Jared, who is married to Taylor, and their daughters Austyn and Payton; Andrew, who is married to Jenna, and their sons Maddax and Lennex; and Kaitlyn, who is married to Alex Benoit, and their daughter Avery, with a little boy on the way. I absolutely love being Nana to my adorable grandchildren—they are the light of my life! I have a blast playing with them, cooking, and baking together. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, quilting, and working on jigsaw puzzles."

Hamilton, Benjamin
Nurse Practitioner
My calling and vocation are to nurture, relate and connect with people while enhancing the quality of life regardless of their socio-economic and geographic locale. Inspired to be a compassionate caregiver, nursing has been a catalyst for me to incorporate evidence-based practice as a framework to managing complex conditions for patients of all ages. From my professional career, I became a diplomatic liaison between international corporations and foreign governments, increasing my acumen for conflict resolution and humanitarian advocacy. My position at Citizens Health is to develop and implement an Orthopedic surgery and Interventional Radiology program with a continued focus on advocating for patients who present with these specific surgical needs.
Education
My educational journey and career path are a curated portfolio of experiences, from developing grassroots healthcare programs to negotiating foreign affairs within war-torn countries. I’m an accomplished leader with 20 years of international business and entrepreneurial experience with an MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. I was formally trained at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, received my Family and Emergency Nurse Practitioner degree from Emory University and I am a fellowship trained surgical Nurse Practitioner with extensive discipline in Interventional Radiology from the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Jeffery L. Horinek, MD
Orthopedics
Horinek, Jeffery L.
Orthopedics
Dr Horinek is a native of Atwood, Kansas where he grew up working on his family’s farm and excelled in sports. He attended Colorado State University on a football scholarship and was named a finalist for the “Academic Heisman” for his efforts on the gridiron, in school, and in the community. This award gave him the confidence to pursue medicine after his graduation and to spend a brief time at Fort Hays completing his premedical requirements where he met his wonderful wife, Tracie. He is grateful to have attended KU-Salina for medical school planning to become a family practitioner. However, during his third-year clinical rotation with his mentors at Salina Ortho he quickly knew that orthopedics would be his home. He went on to complete his residency at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center and a one-year shoulder specialty fellowship at the Oregon Shoulder Institute with world-renowned shoulder specialist, Patrick Denard. At OSI he was able to learn the most innovative techniques for operative and nonoperative management of shoulder conditions, and he also participated in clinical research including shoulder arthroscopy, replacement, instability, and fractures that has been presented at the regional, national, and international level. His work on shoulder instability earned him the Robert Cofield Award for best fellow article of the year. He looks forward to continuing to stay active in clinical research. Dr Horinek specializes in shoulder-related conditions, but he also has a passion for general orthopedics and getting people back to an active lifestyle whether it’s playing sports, walking through the store, or just reaching to the top shelf. He is happy to finally return home with his wife and four boys and serve the great people of Kansas with their orthopedic needs. Citizens Health Orthopedics is powered by Salina Ortho.
