Sarah Gabel, D.O.

Sarah Gabel, D.O., Family Practice received her Doctor of Osteopathy from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at William Beaumonth Hospital in Troy, MI and a Surgical Obstetrics Fellowship at Oakwood Hospitals in Wayne and Dearborn, MI.

“I wanted to be a pediatrician, but I fell in love with the idea of caring for the whole family from prior to birth to end of life care. Throughout my residency training, the relationship created with families has always been my favorite part. I enjoy playing a role in the birth of their children to listening to and supporting the needs of the weary elderly spouse. In no other specialty can I provide all of that.

“The extra training I received during my fellowship allows me ample experience to feel confident as the surgeon in cesarean sections, managing low and high risk pregnancies, and many gynecologic procedures as well.

“I learned in college that the original meaning of “Doctor” is “Teacher”. I have found that if I don’t take adequate time explaining the diagnosis, cause, severity of, etc., patients are much less likely to comply with my recommendations or take an active role in their health. ‘Because the doctor said so…’ just isn’t enough.” Dr. Sarah is married to Dr. Kelly and they have three children, Elijah, Aleha and Korin. She is very committed to family and her faith telling us, “ultimately, it is the Lord who leads me in my work and is the Great Physician.”
